Open-Cell Spray Foam Removal in Bishop’s Stortford

Countrywide Roofing & Insulation removed approximately 30m² of open-cell spray foam from a pitched roof in Bishop’s Stortford, helping prepare the property for the market.

Preparing the loft before marketing the property

With the property due to go on the market, the customer wanted the existing open-cell spray foam removed from the roof slopes.

The before photographs show foam covering the underside of the roof between the rafters. Removing it would expose the roof felt and timber surfaces, making these areas more accessible for visual inspection.

Our initial site notes recorded that the existing roof felt felt firm. This was a useful starting observation when planning the removal, with the condition of the underlying materials remaining an important consideration throughout the work.

Removing the open-cell spray foam

Our team carried out the removal across approximately 30m² of roof slopes, working around the existing rafters and roof structure.

The before-and-after photographs show the change clearly: the foam-covered roof slopes give way to exposed felt and visible timber surfaces. Areas previously concealed by the insulation can now be seen.

Care around the underlying materials matters on a project of this kind. The aim is to remove the foam while limiting disturbance to the existing roof components.

The result

The completed removal left the roof slopes substantially clearer, with the rafters and underside of the roof felt exposed in the photographed areas.

For the customer, this addressed the spray foam ahead of putting the property on the market. The photographs also provide a useful visual record of the loft before and after the removal.
