Open-Cell Spray Foam Removal from a Traditional Roof in Bath
Countrywide Roofing & Insulation completed an open-cell spray foam removal project beneath a traditional pitched roof. The loft combined substantial timber supports, brick gable walls and several adjoining roof sections.
Foam had covered the underside of the roof between the rafters and extended around parts of the timber framework. Removing that coverage revealed a much clearer view of the roof construction.

A roof with more than one working angle
The main roof slopes were only part of the installation. The photographs also show foam around the changes in roof direction, where rafters meet supporting timbers and the working space becomes more complicated.
These junctions shaped the removal work. Following the individual roof sections helped address material around the framework as well as the larger areas between the rafters.
Revealing the traditional roof construction
The removal exposed the roof timbers and the surfaces behind the foam. In the completed views, battens and tile undersides can be seen across sections of the roof, while darker lining remains visible elsewhere.
The wider view brings the different roof sections together, showing how the main rafters and supporting timbers meet. This gives a useful picture of the roof beyond the individual spaces between the rafters.
The completed removal
The after photographs show the change from heavily covered roof slopes to visible timber lines and roof junctions. The larger supports and the spaces between the rafters can be followed much more easily.
This project illustrates the importance of considering the whole roof layout when planning open-cell removal, especially where several slopes meet within one loft.
