Open-Cell Spray Foam Removal Around Roof Braces in Bristol

This open-cell spray foam removal project involved a loft with diagonal timber braces running beneath the roof slopes. A brick gable wall and existing floor insulation formed the surrounding working area.

Countrywide Roofing & Insulation removed the foam coverage so the roof lining and rafter surfaces could be seen again, including the areas around the supporting framework.

Working around the supporting timbers

The before photographs show foam filling the roof sections between the rafters, with the larger braces crossing in front of them. These timbers divided the loft into smaller working spaces.

The removal therefore involved more than clearing a single open slope. The team worked around the framework to address the roof sections behind it, following the shape of the existing structure.

Exposing the lining beside the gable

The after photographs show the roof lining between the rafters and the diagonal supports standing clear in front of it. The brickwork at the end of the loft provides a useful reference point for comparing the same area before and after removal.

The closer view records the condition of the exposed surfaces without relying only on a distant photograph of the loft.

A more visible roof structure

The finished views make the relationship between the roof lining, rafters and braces much easier to follow. Areas previously obscured by the foam are accessible to visual inspection.

The combination of wider and closer photographs shows both the scale of the removal and the detail beside the gable. It is a clear example of why the supporting framework needs to be considered when assessing an open-cell installation.
