114m² Open-Cell Spray Foam Removal and Loft Insulation Top-Up

Countrywide Roofing & Insulation removed approximately 114m² of open-cell spray foam at a property in the Southampton postcode area and installed an additional 150mm of loft insulation across 55m² of unboarded floor.

Alongside the main roof slopes, the work included two small dormer areas where restricted access made removal more awkward.

Foam across the main roof slopes

The before photographs show open-cell spray foam covering the roof lining between the rafters, with foam also extending onto timber surfaces.

The loft contained a network of roof timbers and a boarded access area. Our team worked around these features to remove the foam and expose the underlying roof surfaces.

Careful work in two small dormer areas

The two small dormer sections contained relatively little foam, but their confined layout made them an important part of the job.

Felt had been pinned over these areas, adding another consideration when accessing the foam. The challenge here was reaching and working within the restricted spaces, rather than the volume of material to remove.

Our team addressed these sections alongside the main loft as part of the approximately 114m² removal.

Adding insulation to the unboarded floor

Following the removal, we installed a 150mm insulation top-up across approximately 55m² of the unboarded loft-floor area.

This added to the existing floor insulation within the agreed area. The 150mm figure describes the additional layer installed, rather than the total finished insulation depth.

The finished result

The after photographs show exposed roof felt and visible timber surfaces where foam had previously covered the roof slopes.

The project combined removal across the main loft and awkward dormer sections with an insulation top-up to the unboarded floor, completing both elements within the same job.
