Open-Cell Foam Removal Reveals Roof Underlay in Cardiff
Countrywide Roofing & Insulation completed open-cell spray foam removal in a loft where the roof covering was concealed behind an extensive foam installation. The work exposed the underlay between the rafters and made the timber connections visible.
The collage includes close-up after photographs, recording the newly visible surfaces as well as the overall change in the loft.

Coverage across the roof slopes
Before removal, the foam extended between the rafters and around parts of the timber framework. The sloping roof left a more restricted space towards the sides of the loft.
The team removed the foam from these roof sections, working around the existing braces and connections. The aim of the work was to address the installation and reveal the materials beneath it.
Looking closely at what was uncovered
The after images show grey underlay beside the timber members and a metal connection plate. Close-up views record surface markings and the points where the lining meets the timber structure.
These details become visible once the foam coverage is removed. Keeping them in the project photographs gives a more useful view of the underlying materials than a single image taken from the loft hatch.
The result of the removal
The heavy foam coverage shown in the before images has been removed from the photographed areas, exposing the underlay and adjoining timbers. Features hidden by the installation can now be seen directly.
For this project, the important outcome is that visibility: the removal revealed the roof surfaces rather than leaving their condition concealed behind the foam.
